A Note From the Publisher

Helping you find fun things for your kids to do in the Chester County area!

Happy Wednesday Friends!

We have been enjoying the many local festive activities and sights of the holiday season. We had a great time at the parade in Downtown West Chester last weekend, we were able to visit the Corrado's home and drop off some toys for the toy drive, and we even got to take in some sights of Downtown Philly, too. I love where we live because we have our awesome local towns but the city is so close by for us to enjoy. I feel lucky to have all of these great events, activities, and attractions nearby that have helped me create so many memories with my kids. The best part is that it's the simple and often free ones that create these amazing moments. Whether you want to find a simple outing with your family or you want to pull out all the stops, you can do it close to home. That's one of the things I love best about it.

At home, my kids love a countdown of any kind. Even though it sometimes ends up as a case of sibling rivalry, each year we use our Christmas Countdown to track the days until December 25. It is a cute fabric hanging decoration with pockets and a wooden tree that you move from day to day. Usually the moving of the tree is what sparks the rivalry, but in the end it is always a fun way to track the time. We write little activities or special treats on slips of paper that they can pull out each morning. Sometimes it lists a treat they get that day, sometimes it says "Do an act of kindness today" and sometimes it lists a fun activity that we are going to do that day such as go see a parade or decorate our gingerbread house. It has become a fun tradition and is one of the simplest things we do all season.

As for events, be sure to check our holiday listings for the wonderful local events coming up that will get you in the spirit - Breakfasts with Santa, Carriage Rides, Tree Lightings and more.

You'll find this newsletter full of some new local information, some feel-good articles, information on Brandywine Christmas, local theater, travel information and some favorites like our GIFT GUIDE, Kids Eat Free, WC School District Events, Holiday Events Guide and more.

Don't forget: If you've got a festive holiday display outside and a local cause near and dear to your heart, enter our holiday lights photo contest. Read more in the newsletter. I am so very excited about the charitable twist on this festive contest. No display is too small - have fun with it and remember that it's all for a good local cause.
