What's For Dinner? Great Conversation!

January 28, 2015
Each night around the dinner table, it sometimes feels like pulling teeth to get a great conversation started. Most questions I would ask would end with a one word answer, typically "Good, Fine or Nothing." Enter, the conversation jar!

I scoured the internet looking for good ideas on conversation starters or fun questions. I found some great examples and inspiration. You can find some similar ideas here and here. You can also personalize your questions to fit your family by creating your own!

I created a Word Document, typed up some questions that I felt would get us talking, printed them and cut them into strips. I placed the strips in a mason jar and we simply pull out a question and share our answers around the dinner table. Initially, I thought we'd talk about one question a night, but it has been so much fun that we've each taken a turn pulling a question out and we go around the table and share our answer. I can always add new questions to the jar when we start to run low. Try it and see if it gets your family talking around the table.
