2014 STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

WHAT:  The 2014 Strawberry Festival is an annual four-day extravaganza on the grounds of Brandywine Hospital, featuring fireworks, on-going entertainment, rides, vendor fair, international food fair, and so much more! For over four decades, the Strawberry Festival, attracting over 28,000 visitors, has been an annual tradition in the greater Coatesville area.  It’s a fun way to kick off summer and this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever!

WHEN: May 29-June 1

  • Thursday, May 29 5 pm-10 pm
  • Friday, May 30 5 pm – 11 pm
  • Saturday, May 31 11 am – 11 pm
  • Sunday, June 1 noon- 6 pm

WHERE: The grounds of Brandywine Hospital, 201 Reeceville Road, Coatesville, PA.

WHY: Funds raised from the 2014 Strawberry Festival benefit the Coatesville Youth Initiative Summer ServiceCorps Program, as well as the Coatesville Rotary, the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company and the Coatesville Public Library. In just the past seven years, the Brandywine Health Foundation has distributed nearly $600,000 in grants to the greater Coatesville community from festival revenue alone.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Ø  A volunteer driven event with the Festival Organizing Committee co-chaired by Chris Saello of  the United Way of Chester County and Karol Collins, community volunteer, and over 800 volunteers who participate at the Festival to set up and staff the booths, make the strawberry shortcake and much more.

Ø  Wrist Band Day - Unlimited Amusement Rides in the Midway, Thursday, May 29 from 5:00 – 10:00 pm with the purchase of a $25 wristband.       

Ø  The Citadel Stage features non-stop live performances throughout the entire festival.

Ø  Friday, May 30, FIREWORKS DISPLAY at 9:45 pm, sponsored by Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corporation and ArcelorMittal.

Ø  On-going Music and Entertainment with live bands on the Citadel Stage, including: magician, balloon sculptures, 8-foot tall stilt walking ref, juggler and much more, throughout the festival grounds.

Ø  Sunday, June 1 @ 2 pm, the Strawberriest Kids Contest (children 5 and under dress in their strawberry finest) sponsored by Gallagher Benefits Services Inc.

Ø   “Strawberryland” Children’s Area sponsored by Sikorsky Helicopters and Castle Window with moon bounces, inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and more including non-stop activities such as games, mascot visits and more. 

Ø  There are lots of fun games and activities including our very popular Prize Wheel, and our famous Strawberry Shortcake will be plentiful!

Ø  LoweRiders Bikes and Boards is sponsoring the Raffle featuring a set of four bikes ($2,000+ value) for families and/or friends to get out and enjoy together. 

Ø  Back by popular demand - Park & Ride Strawberry Shuttle: FREE non-stop shuttle service provided from the K-Mart in Thorndale to the Strawberry Festival on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 from 5:00 PM until closing, sponsored by Krapf Bus Companies.
