9 Things To Know About Visiting Winter on Broad Street With Kids

December 1, 2020

If you are looking for some socially-distant holiday fun for your family, Winter on Broad is happening now through January 3, 2021 in the parking lot outside of the Wells Fargo Center. Considering a visit but not sure what to expect? Here's what you'll want to know.

  • There are LIGHTS - half a million of them to be precise. These half a million bulbs are so festive and breathtaking - Giant ornaments, oversized presents, a teddy bear, trees, icicles, snowflakes an airplane and more. There are photo opps everywhere - bring your camera!
  • Each visitor can make an ornament -  there are festive ornamental to decorate - one is free for each visitor and you have the option to upgrade to a keepsake ornament for $5.
  • You can send some Santa Mail - there are letter-writing stations set up in case you need to tell the Big Guy a few more things before Christmas Eve
  • Visitors can play reindeer games - there is a fun family-friendly section just after you begin walking the light path with outdoor games to play and enjoy
  • The outdoor festive fun at Winter on Broad Street felt safer - there were hand sanitizer stations everywhere, everyone that we saw was wearing a mask (except if eating, which is permitted and is done in a separate area) and visitors were respecting each other's socially distant space.
  • Gritty will be there! Visitors can get a photo with Gritty - it is recommended to book your time slow ahead of time if you are planning to visit Winter on Broad and you can do so here.
  • There is festive food, drink and shopping - there are lots of seasonal food and drink options and a Mistletoe Market with a variety of vendors with unique gifts for the seasons. There are also plenty of restrooms available
  • Parking is free - we found parking easily and did not have to walk far to the entrance
  • It is stroller friendly. The walkways are wide and paved and you can bring a stroller if you need to.

You can purchase tickets for Winter on Broad here. Tickets are timed. I'd recommend allowing for a 60-90 minute visit in order to take advantage of all of the activities.
