Make Beautiful Memories Seeing Beauty and the Beast at WST

December 6, 2023

There are often traditions that we look forward to each holiday season and sometimes it just doesn't seem the same without them or it just doesn't feel "holiday official" until they happen. One of those traditions, for us, has included the mainstage performance at Walnut Street Theatre. Every year in late Fall the Walnut Stree Theatre kicks off the season with the opening night of their holiday season production, this year they present Beauty and the Beast. If you, like me, grew up watching all of the Disney greats including the tale of Belle and her Beast, this musical performance will bring you right back to that timeless feeling. What's even better is that the seeing it performed by Walnut's talented and lively cast will make all of what you remembered come to life. You will be captivated during "Be Our Guest" and feel such empathy for both Belle and the Beast. You will fall quickly for Lumiere and Cogsworth and cheer them on as they try to help their master with his romantic destiny in order to break the curse upon them all. There is nothing like a live performance and whether you are 5 or 105 the tale of Beauty and the Beast will help remind you of what is truly considered beautiful in this life.

This magical musical is a timeless, enchanting story of love and hope and a delightful holiday season treat for the entire family. Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST begins previews on November 21, opens November 29, and runs through the holiday season ending December 31, 2023.

Originally based on a French fairytale, and reimagined with the classic 1991 animated feature film, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the timeless tale of finding love and following your dreams. It tells the story of a prince cursed by a magic spell and the bookish Belle who stumbles on his enchanted castle and, with the help of his spellbound servants, helps him break the curse. Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will enchant audiences with a ‘tale as old as time,’ featuring all the classic songs from the animated film, including “Belle,” “Be Our Guest,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” The staged version combines the beloved songs of the animated film with an expanded score and 6 additional songs.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 215-574-3550 or online at walnutstreettheatre.org or ticketmaster.com

When you go, be sure to arrive early to take in everything about this beautiful theater. Don't forget to grab a snack at either the bar or cafe, we love to sit and take it all in a Barrymore's on the lowest level. We recommend  "Chip's Cup" (Walnut's timely version of the Shirley Temple) and the candy of your choice of course.

Enjoy this wonderful show and the true beauty of the season!
